WordPress migration

Moving from WordPress to Webflow without losing search rankings. Content migrated, redirects in place, and post-launch monitoring.

Every update is nerve-wracking because you never know which plugin will break, and a simple text change requires an email to an agency and a week of waiting.

Does this sound familiar?

Tell me what isn't working or what's taking up too much of your time, and I'll let you know what I would do and roughly what it would cost. You'll be speaking directly to me, not an account manager.

A WordPress migration means moving your site to Webflow without losing your content, structure, or Google rankings. No more broken plugins, no more updates, no more server management. Just the same traffic, the same URLs where possible, and a CMS your team will actually enjoy using.

When you need this

Every update is nerve-wracking because you never know which plugin will break. The site has become slow, and no one knows exactly why. A simple text change requires an email to an agency. You’re paying for hosting, maintenance, and three different plugin licenses without knowing what for. Or perhaps you’ve been hacked and want to get rid of the maintenance burden entirely.

What gets migrated

Pages, posts, and all custom post types, converted into Webflow collections with matching fields. Images and documents, re-optimized. Titles, descriptions, and structured data from Yoast or RankMath. Forms, with their destinations intact. Categories and tags as references. And the URL structure wherever possible; where it isn't, we set up redirects.

Why this goes wrong without a plan

URLs change during a migration. If an old URL leads nowhere, Google sees a dead page and your ranking disappears. With a hundred pages, that’s annoying; with a thousand, it’s a revenue problem. Most lost rankings after a migration are caused by missing redirects, not by the new platform itself.

Our approach

First, the inventory: all URLs, which ones drive traffic, and what their rankings are. Then, the new structure, designed within the limits of the Webflow CMS and kept as flat as possible. Next, the redirect list: every old URL gets a 301, or a 410 if the page is being intentionally removed. We pull content via the WordPress API rather than doing it by hand. We test on staging, go live, and keep a close eye on Search Console and Analytics in the weeks that follow.

For large sites

You don't move hundreds of pages manually. We built our own tool on the Webflow Data API that updates slugs in bulk and moves pages between collections, with pre-migration checks. We import redirects as a list rather than line by line.

Costs and timelines

A small site can be moved in two to three weeks. A site with thousands of pages takes a few months, primarily due to the preparation: the inventory, the new structure, and the redirect list. The migration for Immerse Education took about six months. The price is fixed and based on the inventory, as that is the only way to determine the volume of content and the number of URLs. After the move, your costs for WordPress hosting, maintenance, and plugin licenses disappear. Webflow hosting starts at around twenty euros per month.

Who this is not for

If you rely on a specific plugin for which there is no alternative, we advise you to stay put. The same applies if you insist on running on your own servers, or if you have an internal team that manages WordPress well and is happy with it. A migration solves a maintenance problem, not a content problem.

Where we’ve done it

For Immerse Education we moved a WordPress site with multiple article collections, over a hundred programs, and a knowledge base to Webflow. Over a thousand redirects, structured data on every program, and the client's SEO agency signed off before anything went live. No traffic lost.

Questions about

WordPress migration
